KIRKSVILLE,MO -- It's still flu season in the Heartland and chances are you know someone who has the flu or the cold, but whats the difference?
Registered nurse Lorie Guffie of the Adair County Health Department says there are differences between the cold and the flu.
If you have the flu chances are your body aches, you have chills and a rough cough, however you won't have a sore throat
If you have a cold, you will develop a sore throat and have major congestion, but you will not have body aches or fever.
If you are exposed to the flu virus it usually takes between one and seven days to develop the symptoms.
If you feel like you have taken on the virus, visit your doctor as soon as possible.
