OTTUMWA,IA -- The 40th annual Cow-Calf Conference began Friday at the Bridgeview Center.

The day's activities included a luncheon for members and guests. There were also several keynote speakers including Ottumwa Mayor Dale Uehling. Awards were also given out to members of the Iowa Cattlemen's Association.

The conference brings Iowa producers together from all over the state to discuss policy and regulatory issues regarding the beef industry.

An auction is being held Friday evening with proceeds going to scholarships and other educational programs.

Saturday, the schedule includes a trade show, exhibits, and product displays.

Iowa Cattlemen's Association CEO Duane Gangwish encourages the public to attend.

"This is an exciting time for the cow-calf conference and for the Iowa Cattlemen's Association. It's also an opportunity for folks who would like to come out and learn a little bit more about the cattle industry and what we do from right here in town."

"It's grass roots driven and they're going to be deciding the future of our organization."

Admission is $15 and includes lunch. KTVO will have a complete wrap up of the events on Saturday.
