Trooper struck at accident scene

LEWIS COUNTY, MO./NEAR LA PLATA, MO. -- Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper is recovering after getting hit at the scene of an accident Thursday night, just before 8, in Lewis County.

Trooper Zachary Harrison was working an accident scene east of LaBelle on Highway 6. That's when a vehicle traveling west, slid on a patch of ice in the road, and struck Harrison. Both Trooper Harrison and the Roberts Garage Tow truck had their emergency lights on at the time.

Trooper Harrison was moderately injured and taken by ambulance to Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

Meanwhile another trooper was uninjured Thursday when a vehicle struck his patrol car while he was working an accident scene on Highway 63 near La Plata. His car was struck by a vehicle driven by Samantha Schepers, 19, of Kirksville. That incident occurred just before 3:30 Thursday afternoon.
