KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- One person is facing a weapons charge in connection with an incident at a Kirksville trailer court.

Jacob Stewart, 24, of Kirksville is charged with one felony count of unlawful use of a weapon. According to court papers, the incident occurred in the Town and Country Trailer Park, when Kirksville officers responded to a report of shots fired.

Witnesses told police that they saw Stewart on the outside steps of one of the trailers, yelling and shooting into the air. A gunshot residue test on Stewart showed that he had indeed handled a gun recently.

With previous felony convictions Stewart is banned for possessing a firearm. He is being held in the Adair County Jail under $25,000 cash only bond.
