OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Paintings by Ottumwa artist Chris Abigt are being featured in the Indian Hills Art Gallery.

The exhibit entitled 'Uncommon Commonplace' opened to the public on Monday.

Abigt's inspiration revolves around art and she gets her ideas from flowers, landscapes and nature.

She has been giving art lessons to kids for 25 years on a regular basis.

Her love for art began at a young age and continues to grow every day.

"My grandparents were both painters," said Abigt. "My grandfather was very good and painted a lot. My grandmother brought me my first set of paints when I was in fourth grade. I went straight to the basement and started painting and I've been painting ever since."

The art exhibit will be open through February 10th.

If you are interested art lessons, you can visit Abigt's website www.mjartgallery.com for further details.
