KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Winter isn't here but the snow is and the city of Kirksville issued a reminder on Thursday, concerning snow removal from driveways and sidewalks.

"City ordinances require that snow be removed from sidewalks within 24 hours of the end of the snowfall," said Brad Selby, City of Kirksville Code Administrator. "This is also a good safety tip and the courteous thing to do to help general pedestrian traffic."

Kirksville City ordinances also prohibit the depositing of snow on streets, alleys or other public places.

"It's good to keep this one in mind when you shovel sidewalks or driveways," said Selby. "Just make sure that when the snow is removed that it isn't placed in streets or alleys or on someone else's property."
