KIRKSVILLE, MO -- A change of leadership for a local downtown organization. During Tuesday night’s monthly board meeting of the Kirksville Downtown Improvement Committee or K.D.I.C. a new president of the board was officially presented.
Downtown business owner Sherry Stacey is now leading the group. She says she excited about the new adventure, but admits K.D.I.C. has some challenges to overcome.
“Getting people excited. Getting people willing to work with us…volunteer, be part of the events that we put on. I mean, it takes a lot of time and effort to put an event on and it’s very disheartening when people don’t even participate in it. So, I would say participation on many levels. Either putting an event on or attending it,” said Stacey.
Stacey says she’s really looking forward to moving forward with the new executive director.
“We have an exciting opportunity to really push forward on some goals that we’ve had for many years. I mean, we all have businesses, so finding the time extra to put on events has been difficult. So, having a person specifically designated to so those things I think will help us achieve our goals,” said Stacey.
