KIRKSVILLE, MO --
The City of Kirksville is working to perfect its Master Trail Plan.
It's an ongoing project for the Parks Lake and Rec and Airport and Transportation Commissions.
They're looking for grants that will improve and expand the bike lanes, routes, and trails in the community that will coincide with the Alternate Route 63.
The city recently received a grant through the Missouri Foundation for Health for that purpose.
“The grant program is called Get Active Kirksville, and so it basically allows us to provide the infrastructure that will allow folks hopefully to get outside and to walk from their house to the park or their home to the store or to ride their bicycle as a family to encourage folks to get more active in our community,” said Melanie Smith, Community Services Director.
Smith says you'll see the changes and additions happen over the next three years.
