KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI (AP) -- Federal environmental officials have created a pesticide database for people battling bedbugs.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says the database will list all pesticides registered to combat the bugs and is designed to help people find a safe and effective pesticide. There are more than 300 different products registered by the EPA for bedbugs.

There has been a resurgence of bedbugs across the country, infesting homes on a scale not seen for more than 50 years. The bugs are not known to transmit any diseases. But their bites can cause infections and allergic reactions in some people.

The pesticide database is available at http://www.epa.gov/bedbugs/productsearch.
