OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Early voting is still underway.
“If [you] want to absentee vote, [you] can do that,” said Kelly Spurgeon, Wapello County Auditor. “Or we have the polls on Election Day. Also, we're going to have three more satellite voting stations, which you can go absentee vote at."
Satellite voting will take place Thursday, Sept. 30, at the Union Hall from nine a.m. – three p.m., and two more sessions are scheduled for Oct. 5 and 8, at North Hy-Vee and South Hy-Vee respectively.
“Right now, you can absentee vote in our office Monday through Friday, eight a.m. – 4:30 p.m.,” said Spurgeon. “We will be open on Saturday, October 23, which is a pre-registration deadline, which you can absentee vote that day from 8-5. We will also be open Oct. 30 from 9-5 for absentee voting.”
Absentee voting will continue all the way up through Nov. 1, the day before Election Day.
If you would like a ballot to be mailed to your residence, you must submit a written request to the County Auditor’s office by Oct. 29, before five p.m.
“On General Election Day, you can go to the polls and vote,” said Spurgeon. “You are assigned a precinct; you can go to your assigned precinct. If you're not registered to vote on Election Day, you can register on Election Day. You just need some form of ID showing your residence, like your driver's license, a utility bill, a bank statement.”
You may also have another voter attest to your address.
