KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Strong storms dumped a lot of rain on the Heartland Saturday night and into early Sunday morning.

Many areas in Kirksville saw some flooding late Saturday after over 3.5 inches of rain fell on the city. The water was starting to recede in Rotary Park when our crews arrived just before midnight, but residents told KTVO it had been much higher earlier in the evening. Our newsroom also received several calls of flooding in the area west of First St.

Kirksville received the most rain in our area on Saturday. Green City, Mo., saw just over 2 inches of precipitation and a little more than an inch of rain fell in Ottumwa.
