MACON, MO. -- A Macon Relay for Life team did some unconventional fundraising Saturday afternoon.
Babes for a Cure, an annual softball game, featured men dressed up as ladies. The men took on fake names, donned their dresses, and caught pop-ups in their purses.
The rules even changed every inning, when the players would have to run the bases in the opposite direction. The players say it's for a good cause and it's all in good fun.
Modeste Ewing, the coordinator for the event, said it’s good family entertainment, even though the teasing can get a little risqué.
"I always make sure that my players know this is a family event. It's intended for people of all ages to come and enjoy it and have a good time,” said Ewing.
Players like Jeff Vogan, aka “Lafonda” agree. Vogan sported a red hat, heavy makeup and bright red lipstick. Another player Casey Griffin, or as he’s known on the field, “Shorty,” went as far as to wear ladies’ underwear.
The game wouldn’t be complete without some good natured humor from the players.
“I’m one of the leaders on the team. All through the season I’ve struggled hard. I’ve had my ups and my downs but tonight’s a chance to bring it all together,” joked Vogan.
