KIRKSVILLE, MO --

Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder stopped in Kirksville Thursday to in support of local Republicans running for office.

Kinder endorsed Zachary Wyatt for District 2 State Representative, who's vying for incumbent Rebecca McClanahan's seat.

The lieutenant governor says the country and the state need to move in a more conservative direction.

“We've got to send a message to Washington and to Jefferson City, it's the spending. It's the spending. It's piling up debt that's a moral issue, it's wrong, and we've got to reign that in and the best way to do that is to get out and vote on November 2,” Kinder said.

Kinder also visited with Stanley Pickens about his campaign.

He'll face Democrat Harley Harrelson in November for Adair County Presiding Commissioner.

Kinder's term will be up in two years. He says he'll announce his future plans sometime after the November election.
