OTTUMWA, IOWA -- A man who believes he was scammed at the Liquidation Sale in Ottumwa last weekend has more suspicious activity happening to him.

First, Vernon Hutchinson claimed his computer was not new and contained illegal software after he was told otherwise by a Sinz Computer salesperson.

Now, Hutchinson said he received an E-mail Thursday night confirming he purchased airline tickets.

Suspicious of the timing, Hutchinson said he has did not give his email to the vendor, but has accessed his email on his new computer. He does not know if they are related.

As of Friday afternoon, nothing has appeared on his credit card, which he used to pay for part of the computer. He has contacted his bank to watch the credit card for a fraud purchase.

Regarding that computer, Hutchinson said he had not yet heard from Sanjay Syal with Blue Star Productions, the company that held the liquidation sale. Syal told KTVO he would “take care of the situation.”

Hutchinson said he filed a complaint with the Iowa Attorney General’s office. They told him they could not do anything about it and he would have to file a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General’s Office. Sinz Computer is based in Chicago.
