ELDON, IOWA -- Authorities release the names of the two victims found in the wreckage, some seven hours after a one vehicle crash.

The Wapello County Sheriff's Office reports Brian Caine Ehret, 34, of Batavia was killed in the crash. His wife, Kari Anne Ehret, 36, Batavia, was transported to the University Hospitals in Iowa City with serious injuries. The
fatal crash in Eldon, Iowa, went unnoticed for hours early Saturday morning.

The Wapello County Sheriff's Office report said the vehicle missed a turn on Highway 16, went off the road just south of 28th Street and struck a tree. It says the crash happened around midnight Saturday but it was not until 7:30 that morning when someone spotted the wreck and reported it to authorities.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office.
