KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Lewis County officials have received several reports since an incident, last year, regarding an elderly citizen getting scammed out of money in exchange for work that was to be done on a driveway.
Generally the scammers offer to complete work, but do not provide written estimates. They also attempt to complete minimal work at a high price while using low-quality materials.
Lewis County Sheriff David Parrish reminds residents that reputable asphalt companies generally do not go door-to-door looking for work. If you are approached by anyone in this manner, you should contact local law enforcement.
