MACON, MO --
It's a big week for the Poet Biorefining Plant in Macon.
The ethanol plant celebrated its tenth anniversary of production.
Hundreds gathered to celebrate the milestone, including members, corporate officers, and elected officials.
Those who have been with the company from the beginning are proud of how far it's come over the last decade.
“We've expanded the plant on different occasions. We've added carbon dioxide, we have a combustion turbine or site that is a joint venture with the city that is producing electricity. We have our own trucking company on site that transports our CO2 that we produce right at the plant,” said Chairman John Eggleston.
Presentations were given at the event, including one from Dr. Jon Haggler, Missouri Secretary of Agriculture. The event wrapped up with a tour of the ethanol plant itself.
