KIRKSVILLE, MO -- The Kirksville R-III Board of Education held their regular meeting on Tuesday. One of the first issues discussed was the instillation of lights on the districts soccer field. Also talked about were lunch prices staying the same price for next school year. In the 2009-2010 school year, it was reported that 1,800 lunches, 900 breakfasts, and 700 snacks were served in the district each day.
Superintendent Patrick Williams was pleased to talk about the summer school partnership with Truman State University’s education department.
“The benefits were two-fold. First of all, it provided us with additional staff members in the summer school program” said Williams. “When I was around the buildings, they provided a lot of small group discussions and a lot of one on one instruction. Secondly, it provided them a real life experience dealing with students one on one.”
The board also unanimously agreed on revising and updating the implementation of drug dogs within the district.
