DES MOINES, IOWA (AP) -- The Iowa National Guard has scheduled sendoffs across the state for its largest deployment since WWII.
Over two dozen ceremonies are planned from July 30 to Aug. 9 for about 2,800 members of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team.
The soldiers will report to Camp Shelby, Miss., for additional training before heading to Afghanistan.
Twenty-eight sendoffs are scheduled beginning on July 30 in Algona, Boone, Eagle Grove, Mount Pleasant, Keokuk and Storm Lake.
