JEFFERSON CITY, MO. (AP) -- Missouri Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder is preparing to file a legal challenge to the federal health care overhaul.

Kinder's office said the lawsuit would be filed Wednesday in federal court in Cape Girardeau.

Numerous states have joined a Florida lawsuit challenging the health care law.

Kinder, a Republican, had been saying for months that he would file suit in his personal and official capacity over the federal health care law.

Kinder has also said he was raising private money to pay for the lawsuit.

His attorney is Thor Hearne, who in 2006 helped defend a state law requiring voters to show government-issued photo ID before casting ballots. The Missouri Supreme Court ruled the requirement was unconstitutional.
