FAIRFIELD, IOWA -- One heartland community is looking to the sky to attract tourists.

The Fairfield Airport partnered with the Fairfield Convention and Visitors Bureau to attract new tourist.

The are seeking the personal aircraft owners niche.

They have put together a VIP weekend getaway package for two.

It will take care of everything they need from transportation, to meals, and entertainment.

“If we can make this as easy as possible for a pilot and his family or a friend to come to Fairfield, we have laid it on a platter for him to take advantage of everything that is Fairfield,” said Fairfield Convention and Visitors Bureau director Rustin Lippincott.

Lippincott said they are marketing the trip in nationwide flying magazines.

The airport was renovated two years ago.
