NEAR HURDLAND, MO. -- A northeast Missouri man is dead after wrecking his car in Knox County late Thursday afternoon.

It happened at 4:15 p.m. on Route A one mile south of Hurdland.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Andrew Griggs, 22, of Kirksville was killed in the one-car crash.

Investigators say the car went off the right side of the blacktop, and Griggs overcorrected, causing the vehicle to cross back over the roadway and overturn. The car came to rest in a ditch.

Griggs was thrown from the vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by Knox County Coroner Jeff Doss.

Griggs’ body was taken to Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville where funeral arrangements are pending.
