KIRKSVILLE, MO --

Getting a job right out of college is easier said than done.

Our Fact Finder Team discovered that about 24 percent of college students graduated with a job lined up. That’s up from last year, but still grim.

The Director of Career Services at Truman State University said many students are afraid of failure in the job market and chose to move home instead of searching for jobs.

“We had a company just the last couple weeks of school, who had an entry level position in St. Louis, where many of our students want to go, it paid between $35,000 and $45,000 a year and we couldn't get enough candidates to interview for the job, so there are jobs, they just need to put themselves out there and do the work,” said Lisa Kerlin.

Kerlin says those who started job hunting early were the ones who graduated with a job already waiting for them.
