OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Iowa’s June 8th primary is now just two weeks away and campaigns are now in full swing.

Our Fact Finder team looked at how much the governor candidates were spending.

Rod Roberts, Bob Vander Plaats and Terry Branstad are the three Republican candidates looking to challenge current Governor Chet Culver.

The latest filing reports were due earlier this week.

As of May 14th, the candidates have spent nearly $3 million dollars.

Branstad: $1,789,412.88

Roberts: $120.330.34

Vander Plaats: $239,879.63

Culver: $809,363.03

Branstad spending of nearly $1.8 million is five times greater than Roberts and Vander Plaats combined.

These numbers do not include in-kind contributions.

As incumbent, Chet Culver does not have a challenger in the primary.

Our Fact Finder team also looked at their cash on hand as the candidates entered the final stretch.

Branstad: $1,203,317.22

Roberts: $32,615.49

Vander Plaats: $247,613.29

Culver: $3,255,600.24

Branstad hold a distinct advantage on the republican side.

Culver holds four times more than what he has already spent as he prepares his campaign for the November election.
