Woman drowns on water-covered roadway

LEWIS COUNTY, MO. -- The recent flooding has claimed another life in northeast Missouri.

A Lewis County woman drowned early Saturday morning when the vehicle she was driving went into a flooded area on a roadway just east of Monticello.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 25-year-old Kourtnie Geisendorfer of Lewistown, Mo., drove into the water that was covering 195th St. around 2:45 a.m. Her car was completely submerged in the flooded area.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by Lewis County Coroner Larry Arnold.
