KIRKSVILLE, MO --

You can help the U.S. Post Office stamp out hunger.

Saturday is the 18th annual Letter Carriers’ Food Drive.

You should have received a paper bag in the mail. Fill it up with non perishable food items and leave it by your mailbox by 9 a.m.

“We collected over 11 thousand pounds of food last year and not only just food but we collected $1000 and they said a dollar equals 20 pounds of food, so we collected almost 30,000 pounds of groceries last year for our pantries in Kirksville,” said Kirksville Coordinator Corey King.

400 pounds have already been collected by the Kirksville Post Office this week. The food will be distributed between the Salvation Army Food Pantry, the Community Food Depot, and Love INC at the Kirksville Nazarene Church.
