KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Residents were eating good and helping a good cause on Saturday in Kirksville. The 21st annual Kirksville Rotary Chicken-Q kicked off at Kirksville High School. Rotary members prepared more than 1,200 chicken dinners, selling them for $7.
Chicken-Q Chairman Scott Veatch said most of the money raised will stay local.
“The money goes for two things this year. $1,000 of the proceeds will go to the rotary international effort to help eradicate polio something we’ve been involved with in the past” said Veatch. “Also the reminder of the proceeds this year will go towards Kirksville Special Olympics.”
Workers said this year’s menu included barbecued chicken breast with two side dishes, a dinner roll and a drink.
