KIRKSVILLE, MO -- On Wednesday, Macon County Economic Development Executive Director Denise Bennett presented a check to the City of LaPlata in the amount of $14,960.  This was the first grant from the Landfill Fee Program which was passed by Macon County voters on August 4, 2009.

Mayor John McGee serves on the Macon County Landfill Board and was pleased to see their vision become a reality.

“We're going to use this money to buy two new sewer pumps for our lift station” said McGee.  “It will cause us to be able to provide better business for the citizens plus allow growth and expansion for future building and potential for new business in the City of LaPlata.”

The City of LaPlata applied for the funds to complete their sewer upgrade project.
