KHS Band participates in State Contest

KIRKSVILLE, MISSOURI -- On Friday, March 26, the KHS Band traveled to Hannibal LaGrange College to participate in the State Large Group Festival.  The band performed "The Black Horse Troop" by John Philip Sousa and "Fate of the Gods" by Steven Reineke.  The band received a I rating on their performance. The Large Group Percussion Ensemble also performed at contest and received a I rating on their performance.  The Percussion Ensemble was under the direction of percussion specialist, Shane Griffin, and they performed "Letters from Home" and "Sketches of the Orient."

 

On Saturday, March 20, 43 KHS band students participated in District Solo and Ensemble contest at Kirksville High School.  All solos and ensembles that received a I rating will participate in State Contest on Friday, April 30 in Columbia at the University of Missouri.
