Republicans from around the Heartland gathered Saturday night at the Adair County Republican Lincoln Days.
KIRKSVILLE, MO. --
The event featured a live auction of donated items.

Proceeds will benefit various republican candidates.

Republican Congressman Roy Blunt was the keynote speaker discussing jobs, healthcare, and reducing federal spending with guests.  He says he's traveled to 75 counties in the state and made 354 stops in the last 14 months.

Blunt is running for Kit Bond's senate seat in the 2010 election.

“It'd be great with me if he (Bond) was running again but he's not.  And it is a critical time in the history of the country.  This is a moment that all of us need to understand what's at stake,” said U.S. Rep. Roy Blunt.

Blunt is one of nine republicans running in the August primary.  He's considered the front runner for the republicans and Robin Carnahan is considered the democratic front runner.

Blunt will fly back to Washington Sunday to vote on the healthcare reform bill.
