Man sentenced in $3.5M embezzlement scheme

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- A former propane company manager in western Missouri has been sentenced to four years and three months without parole for embezzling from his employer.

Fifty-three-year-old Scott J. Beeson of North Kansas City pleaded guilty last year to federal charges of wire fraud and money laundering. Prosecutors said he embezzled $3.5 million over six years from Ferrellgas Inc., based in Overland Park, Kan.

Beeson was sentenced Thursday in federal court. Along with the prison term, he was also ordered to pay restitution.

Beeson managed the fleet department at the Ferrellgas office in Liberty, Mo.

He admitted creating false invoices from vendors for work that was never done. When
