MACON, MO --

A longtime county official is hanging up her hat.

Macon County Clerk Pat Clarke announced she will not run again.

Clarke has worked at the courthouse for 31 years. She started out as the Deputy County Collector.

“In 1990 I campaigned for the county clerk position and was fortunate enough to win that, and I have been very blessed with no competition. No one has run against me since my first term,” Clarke said.

Clarke plans to spend time with her grandchildren and volunteer in retirement.

Her last day is December 31. Two people have filed to run for Macon County Clerk.
