JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced that law enforcement officers will crack down on drunken driving the weekend before St. Patrick's Day.

The Transportation Department says there will be more police enforcement March 12-14 because officials expect more drinking.

In 2009, 268 people were killed and 1,134 seriously injured in crashes involving an impaired driver.
