OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Heartland residents gathered and voiced their concerns at a legislative forum this morning.
Five heartland legislators attended the forum sponsored by the Ottumwa League of Women Voters.
Roughly 60 residents packed the room to voice their opinions and concerns or to just listen to what the legislators had to share.
Many residents voiced their concerns about their workplaces receiving adequate state funding.
The most popular topics included the reorganization bill, balancing the budget, and the economy.
“That was mentioned over and over today-the budget. We will come out with a balanced budget at the end of the year but were still working with it and trying to figure out where the most needed services are to make sure were supporting those as much as possible,” said Becky Schmitz (D), Fairfield.
The final legislative forum is scheduled for April, 3. If the legislative session ends before this date, the meeting will be cancelled.
