KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Nan Davis, the Executive Director of Adair County's Senate Bill 40/Developmental Disability Board announced her resignation on Monday. Davis is resigning for personal reasons and to have more time to spend with her family. Davis was the first director of the Developmental Disability Board since the organizations inception in April of 2005.

The SB40 Developmental Disability Board of Directors met in a special closed session on Sunday night. They discussed accounting irregularities identified in the annual audit of financial statements. Board Chairman Don Crosby said “The auditor did not find any funds missing, but there were some errors that caused the directors to be concerned.”  The board of directors discussed possible disciplinary action for Davis related to the errors in the financial reports, but deferred any action to the next regularly scheduled board of directors meeting.

The SB40/Developmental Disability Board is a local government funded by property taxes to support those with developmental disabilities. In the past, funds have been used to support existing agencies like the Community Opportunities sheltered workshop, KirkTran, and Learning Opportunities along with individuals needing special assistance. The board owns and operates the PACT (People Achieving Connections Together) building which serves as an activity center for individuals with developmental disabilities.
