LEXINGTON, MO. -- A former longtime Kirksville attorney is headed to prison for at least three months.
Back in October 2009, Tom Oswald, 84, pleaded guilty to one of two counts of second-degree statutory sodomy.
Late Wednesday afternoon in a Lafayette County courtroom, a judge sentenced Oswald to seven years in prison.
He was ordered into the Missouri Department of Corrections "Sexual Assessment Unit" for 120 days.
At the end of that three months, it will be determined if Oswald will serve his entire seven years or be released on probation.
Oswald was accused of having inappropriate sexual contact with a Kirksville boy who was 15 years old at the time of the crime back in 2007.
The case was handled by a special prosecutor from the Missouri Attorney General's Office.
The case was moved out of Adair County on a change of venue.
