OTTUMWA, IOWA (AP) -- The Iowa Department of Corrections says a 29-year-old inmate has escaped from a residential work release facility.

Robert Thomas Andrews was living at the Ottumwa facility after serving more than 11 years in prison for attempted murder, escape and assault on a peace officer. He had been allowed to leave the facility Friday to look for work, and he never returned.

The Iowa Board of Parole had granted him work release in November. Anyone with information about Andrews is asked to contact the Ottumwa Police Department  at (641) 683-0661 or the Wapello County Sheriff's Department at (641) 684-4350.
