KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- KTVO reported Tuesday a net job loss in Adair County after attending the Kirksville Regional Economic Development Inc. board meeting.  We wanted to clarify several points in that report.

According to a KREDI survey, there were 92 jobs gained in Kirksville in the 2009 calendar year. That was a selective survey of Kirksville’s industrial base, educational institutions, major healthcare facilities and KREDI projects.  Those numbers were also reported before the Wi-Fi layoffs this month. Exact job numbers per employer surveyed by KREDI were not released.

There is no data available to determine exactly how many jobs were gained or lost in Kirksville during 2009.

According to information provided by the Mo. Career Center, in Adair County, 160 workers lost their jobs over a two year period through 2009.  Those numbers only include employers that went through the career center.
