KIRKSVILLE, MO --
With the holidays in full swing, Missouri and Iowa roadways will be busier than usual.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is reminding drivers to be cautious and make smart decisions every time they get behind the wheel.
“Last year over the Christmas holiday period, 15 people were killed and there were over 1300 car crashes in our state, so it's a time frame where it's a lot of sadness as far as traffic crashes are concerned in Missouri, “ said Sgt. Brent Bernhardt, Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Don't forget to buckle up and use a sober, designated driver if alcohol is involved in your holiday plans. You should also drive the posted speed limit, and allow extra time if you have to go out in bad weather.
