KIRKSVILLE, MO --

Livestock producers and agricultural specialists from across the country set up shop in the Kirksville Middle School this weekend for the 2009 Missouri Livestock Symposium.

Attendees could visit various booths and get information from around 75 exhibitors. More than 1000 people turned out for presentations given by nationally known speakers on current topics in the industry, including a wide range of types of livestock and renewable energy.

“I hope they get the chance to learn something that can help them in their operation and make their operation more profitable or something that they've wanted to try and they haven't had the information or knowledge to,” said Joe Koenen, Agricultural Business Specialist.

Coordinators say there was a great turnout for the 9th annual symposium, which has grown every year. The symposium wrapped up tonight with a concert by country music artist Steve Holy.
