KIRKSVILLE, MO --
Kirksville residents feasted on turkey and all the trimmings a little early this year.
Hundreds turned out to the El Kadir Shrine Club for the 35th annual Luncheon and Bazaar. The event is put on by the Jewels, who are the wives and widows of the Shriners. Baked goods, crafts, and Christmas items were on sale to benefit a good cause.
“If you have a loved one or a neighbor that has gone to the Shriner's Hospital, it really touches a lot of people so I think that's why we have so much support because there have been several young people from our community that have used the services of the hospital and it's at no charge to any of the patients,” said Debbie Clarkson and Karen Morrow.
They normally bring in about $5800 each year for the Shriner's Children's Hospital.
