KIRKSVILLE, MO --

Members of the Truman State University Alpha Sigma Gamma Sorority threw a Harvest Fest at the Adair County Public Library Saturday.

The sorority does a variety of community service projects around town, and they hold an event at the library each semester. About 20 children attended the event, which was all about the Thanksgiving holiday.

“We came to do arts and crafts with the little kids and make hand turkeys or pilgrim hats or hats with feathers on them, and do little games, whatever they wanted to do basically that's kind of Thanksgiving oriented, read Thanksgiving stories to them so they can learn about Thanksgiving and play with puppets and stuff,” said Organizer Melissa Berns.

Organizers say they chose the project to give kids an opportunity for hands on fun at the library.
