SIGOURNEY, IOWA -- Veteran's day celebrations continued across Iowa Wednesday. Sigourney High School held its event in the gym with the band and choir performing. Colonel Tom Staton was the guest speaker and spoke about sacrifices made by military families.
“I think it's real important that we honor our veterans that have served in uniform whether they be the army the air force the navy or the marines,” says Staton. “But it's also important to honor families and the community members that also support our men and women in uniform."
More than a dozen veterans attended the event as well as hundreds from the community.
