Accused kidnapper heads to court

ALBIA, IOWA -- A man arrested after what authorities thought might be a hostage situation in Albia, Iowa last Friday, has made his initial court appearance.

Brien Mayer, 45, is charged with 1st Degree Kidnapping, Assault with Willful Injury, and Domestic Abuse Assault. He made his initial court appearance on Friday. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday of next week. He remains behind bars under a $1,000,000 bond.
