DES MOINES, IOWA (AP) -- Thousands remain without power across Iowa from thunderstorms that brought strong winds, hail and heavy rain to the state.
The National Weather Service says the storms that hit Sunday night and early Monday brought golf ball sized hail, heavy rain and damaging winds.
Shortly before 8 a.m. on Monday, Alliant Energy reported about 5,000 customers were still without power in east central Iowa, which includes Marshalltown, Cedar Rapids and Clinton. That's down from over 10,000 customers earlier on Monday.
MidAmerican Energy still had about 2,200 customers without power, most in the Des Moines area.
In north central Iowa, large trees and power lines are down in Fort Dodge, while a tree hit a house in Humboldt.
No injuries have been reported.
