SCHUYLER COUNTY, MO. -- The Schuyler County Sheriff says he thinks four suspects are behind a recent rash of vehicle thefts in Queen City.
Donald Bruner told KTVO he believes three young men and a young woman are responsible for stealing a semi from just south of Queen City and setting it on fire this week.
The truck belongs to Whitworth Specialties trucking company.
The suspects stole a total of four vehicles from Queen City late Monday night or early Tuesday morning.
They torched two of them.
The sheriff encourages everyone to lock their vehicles and never leave the keys in them because he believes the thieves will probably strike again until they are caught.
Bruner said he thinks all four of this week’s incidents are connected.
"That night the same people did it all, and we do have some leads. We've got prints, and we're having to send them off. It takes awhile to find out who the prints belong to," said Bruner.
Bruner says he believes he knows who two of the four suspects in the crime spree are.
No arrests have been made at this time.
If you have any information about the crimes, you're ask to call the Schuyler County Sheriff's Department in Lancaster.
A little over a week ago, a pickup was stolen from Kirksville and another one was taken from Worthington in Putnam County. One of them was found burned in a bean field outside Worthington.
It's unclear if these two incidents are connected to the four in Schuyler County.
