KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Rotarians from six clubs in Northeast Missouri and the St. Louis area recently made a trip to the World Headquarters of Rotary International in Evanston, Illinois, north of Chicago.
The purpose of the trip was to visit Rotary International’s 100th President, Ray Klinginsmith, and his wife Judie.
Ray is the president elect of Rotary International and will assume his duties as president of the world-wide service club in July 2010. Ray is a Rotarian from the Rotary Club of Kirksville and a native of Unionville, MO.
Rotary International is the world's first service club organization, with more than 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs in more than 200 countries worldwide.
Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto Service Above Self.
Members of Rotary clubs, known as Rotarians, provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.
