SIOUX CITY, IOWA (AP) -- Fire has caused major damage to St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sioux City.

Firefighters were called to the church just after 3 p.m. Friday. A cause was not immediately known but firefighters say they suspect it started in the church's attic.

Parishioners at the scene say workers had just finished work on a new $200,000 roof project. One person in the church escaped without injury.

Firefighters contained the fire to the church, keeping it from spreading to the adjacent living quarters.
