Around 150 people turned out Sunday afternoon to pay respect to the veterans of Missouri.

A patriotic service was held at Rotary Park Amphitheater for the fifth year.

To kick the ceremony off, the Kirksville Community Chorus filled the air with patriotic tunes.

A local pastor led prayers for the nation and for the men and women in service.

Organizers say the ceremony was not only for veterans, but for all Americans.

"We emphasize the veterans of course but I think it's really an effort to honor all Americans and what our country stands for," said Richard McKinney.

Sunday’s festivities also included a community band concert and an ice cream social.

The patriotic ceremony wrapped up the Red White and Blue Festival put on by the Kirksville Area Chamber of Commerce.
