HURDLAND, MO --
An investigation is underway in a possible case of animal cruelty.
Thursday a horse was rescued from the Janie Binkley residence in Hurdland by the Missouri Humane Society and local law enforcement officials. A member of the rescue team told KTVO the horse was very thin, and that it was taken to a local vet.
We spoke with Animal Cruelty Task Force Investigator Carman Skelly Friday, who says a complete and exhaustive investigation is currently underway by the Humane Society and the Knox County Sheriff's Department. She says the case will be presented to the prosecuting attorney. Skelly also told KTVO the horse is not out of the woods yet, but is up and responding to treatment.
We also spoke with Sheriff Mike Kite, who says charges are pending.
